Job Description
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders including representatives from assembly, design, engineering, vendor, tooling & manufacturing.
Coordinate efforts with suppliers to develop and implement new components and systems within design requirements, timing and budget constraints.
Monitor fabrication and installation activities of prototype components to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design intent.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate future problems.
Identify and document all quality compliance requirements of the project
Conduct ship checks as necessary to complete estimates and proposals.
Develop a resource plan to include in-house labor as well as sub-contractors
Perform regular ship inspections on vessels with work in process to provide mentoring and guidance to our team and to ensure work being performed meets quality standards.
Participate in post construction analysis on each vessel in an effort to continuously improve our process
Compile and manage photo documentation of vessels in attendance to provide a resource for future.
Design, document, order & inspect new & current parts to support prototype assembly & manufacturing integration.
Promote teamwork and excellence within the project team while achieving company goals.
Work with suppliers on the development of new systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of vessel systems.
Ensure that new designs have been fully validated and that they meet necessary system specifications and performance requirements.
Produce technical documentation packages as required by various regulatory bodies.
Ensure compliance as necessary with all regulatory bodies including but not limited to ABS, DNV, ABYC and ISO standards.
Ensure adequate and accurate documentation to support manufacturing including but not limited to construction drawings and process work instructions.
Initiate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as necessary to execute and properly document product changes.
Required Skills
Bachelors Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field with 5
years of related experience in building boats in the 60
foot class.
Possess technical knowledge of yacht operations and shipbuilding process in order to engage with technical leaders in the industry.
Knowledge of fabrication and production processes of ship construction.
Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Intermediate level knowledge of computer software applications (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino and Adobe. Manipulate, modify and change AutoCAD drawings.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
